Online help search guide
Certain practices and features help refine and make searches in the online help more effective.
To find the desired results more easily:
- Select a search filter
to the right of the search field to filter by the desired help content (see Search filters).
- Use terms that appear in the title.
- Avoid spelling mistakes and non-standard terms in Akuiteo (for example, use quotation rather than sales proposal).
- Use quotation marks for an exact search, and other search operators where possible (see Search operators).
Select a search filter to the right of the search field to narrow the results according to the desired help content (for example, Web Portal, Desktop Application, etc.).
A filter is selected by default based on the help content currently being viewed. For example, when viewing the help for the Web Portal , the Web Portal filter is selected by default in the search bar.
The icon is:
-
if a filter is selected.
-
if not filter is selected.
Certain search operators can be used to formulate a more precise search:
| Operator | Description |
|---|---|
| Espace |
By default, a basic search containing words separated by spaces performs an AND search. The search therefore finds pages that contain all the words entered in the query, whether or not they appear consecutively on the page. Example A search for quotation lines returns pages that contain quotation, lines, without those words necessarily appearing consecutively or in the same sentence. |
|
Quotation marks " ... " |
Quotation marks "..." allow you to perform an exact search for the term enclosed in quotation marks. Example A search for "quotation" returns all pages that contain the word quotation, ignoring for example quotations. In addition, quotation marks "..." can also be used to perform an exact search for a phrase. Example A search for "billing schedule" returns only the pages that contain the exact phrase billing schedule in the same order. |
|
Expression or Vertical bar | |
The OR operator or the vertical bar | (on Windows: Ctrl + Alt + 6 / on macOS: Option + Shift + L) can be used to separate multiple terms in order to perform an OR search. Example A search for invoice OR order returns all pages that contain invoice and/or order. |
|
Circumflex accent ^ |
The ^ operator (on Windows: Ctrl + Alt + 9 / on macOS: Option + 6) can be used to find pages containing one term without the other. Example A search for schedule^billing returns pages containing schedule without billing. |
|
Brackets () |
Parentheses can be used to combine multiple types of searches. Example A search for customer (quotation OR opportunity) returns pages containing both:
|
The ranking of search results is determined based on several relevance criteria:
-
Number of occurrences of the search term in the page title;
-
Number of occurrences in the page;
-
Number of links in the online help that point to the result.
When a search is entered without quotation marks, certain words from the same word family are also included in the search. Use quotation marks if you want to perform an exact search.
Example
I search for review with quotation marks. The search will also contain words from the same word family:
-
reviews;
-
reviewed;
-
reviewing;
-
And so on.
By default, a partial word entered without quotation marks returns results that contain that word, even if it is part of a longer word.
Example
A search for inter returns results containing both intervening and interface.
